Nutrition & Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network

NOPREN informs policies and practices designed to support the intake of healthy, nutritious foods so that everyone has a fair chance at health.

Our collaborative network includes policy researchers and evaluators, practitioners, people representing professional organizations and community organizations, and people working in government agencies.

We seek to understand the effectiveness of policies and practices enacted at the federal, state, tribal, and local levels, and their impact on access to healthy food and water, food security, dietary intake, and health.

Anyone can join NOPREN!

Become a NOPREN Fellow!

NOPREN is committed to fostering the next generation of public health nutrition early career professionals. As part of the Fellows Program, NOPREN invites one Fellow per work group. Fellows are typically graduate students or early career professionals, such as PhD students, post-docs researchers, etc. Each Fellow commits to a one-year term and receives a $1,000 stipend for their contributions.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Fellows play an integral role in supporting work group activities. They assist in coordinating and facilitating work group calls and projects and work closely with the work group Chairs to identify priority topic areas, develop meeting agendas, and recruit speakers. Fellows may also have the opportunity to collaborate on research initiatives with other work group members.

In addition to their core responsibilities, Fellows benefit from a variety of professional development opportunities. These include attending the NOPREN Annual Meeting, being part of the NOPREN Leadership Council, and connecting with senior level researchers in the field. This opportunity is open to anyone who meets professional and interest criteria.

The following work groups are looking for a new Fellow:
