Title: Conducting and Communicating Research for Policy Impact
Speakers: Dr. Renu Tipirneni, Ms. Eileen Kostanecki and Ms. Sarah Wang from the Institute for Healthcare Policy & Innovation, University of Michigan.

Dr. Tipirneni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Divisions of General Medicine and Hospital Medicine, and serves as faculty advisor to the Policy Engagement Team at the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on investigating the impact of health reform policies and programs on low socioeconomic status, minority, aging and other vulnerable populations, and on delivery of care in the health care safety net.

Eileen Kostanecki is the Director of Policy Engagement and External Relations for the University of Michigan’s Institute for Healthcare Policy & Innovation. She is focused on expanding IHPI member impact on health policy and works to promote and advance IHPI health services research expertise and capacity to the State of Michigan, Congress, federal agencies, associations, think-tanks, and other stakeholders to help inform and evaluate policy. She previously held policy and government relations roles in state government, a trade association, nonprofit health insurer, and health system.

Sarah Wang is a Policy Engagement Program Manager at the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) at the University of Michigan. She focuses on helping health services researchers inform health policy and practice by helping to crystallize the key takeaways and policy considerations from their research, develop policy-relevant products, and disseminate insights to policymakers and stakeholders.
