What I do:
Samantha (Sam) Pierce is an epidemiologist in the Obesity Prevention and Control Branch in the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity at the CDC. Her work focuses on using electronic health record (EHR) data to study pediatric obesity and obesity-related conditions. She extracts, cleans, and analyzes EHR datasets and has worked extensively with data cleaning tools, in particular growthcleanr- an automated algorithm for identifying and cleaning height and weight data. Sam earned her MPH in Epidemiology from Emory and BS in Public Health from Tulane in her hometown of New Orleans. She is excited to serve as a co-lead of the Pediatric Obesity Health Services Research Work Group.
