What I do: 
Katherine Jochim Pope is a doctoral student at the Indiana University School of Public Health, Bloomington with a strong background in research and practice focusing on obesity prevention and community engagement. She has experience working in clinical medicine and the public health field, both as an oncology nurse as well as program director of the Sky Lakes Wellness Center in rural Oregon. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in modern languages and literature from Kenyon College, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Indiana University, and a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. ​She is focusing on health behavior and epidemiology at IU while serving as project manager of an R03, NIH-funded grant that aims to understand and address causes of child obesity in rural communities. She also works closely with rural community members and academic partners to understand the role coalitions and stakeholders play in community health improvement.
