Melissa Akers, MPH

NOPREN Manager

Melissa Akers is Manager of the Food Policy, Health, and Hunger Program at UCSF’s Center for Vulnerable Populations, where she is involved in research and community-based interventions aimed at reducing food insecurity and improving health. She has served as NOPREN’s Manager since 2015, providing coordination, strategic guidance, and support to network members and NOPREN working groups. Ms. Akers brings to her current position fifteen years of experience in public health program management in the nonprofit and academic sectors. She has a BA in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara and earned her master’s degree in Public Health from UC Davis.
