Presenters: Steve Downs (Building H) and Dr. Nicholas Freudenberg (City University of New York School of Public Health)
In this talk, Dr. Freudenberg will describe the origins and rationale for the Commercial Determinants of Health framework and suggest strategies by which governments, health professionals, and communities can modify food and other industry practices that contribute to diet related diseases, food insecurity, climate change, and growing income and wealth inequality. Mr. Downs will discuss the development and application of the Building H index a measure of commercial determinants of health. He will also present opportunities for researchers to engage in building the evidence base for Building H.
